Cleeve Cables was formed in 2001, to legitimise the import of resistant welding cables and connectors from South Africa. In order for South African manufacturers to enjoy export incentives, it was necessary for them to have a registered company here in the UK to receive them.
The water-cooled jumper and 'kickless' cables being imported were of the highest quality, and much cheaper in cost than local equivalent cables. However, we soon found that due to the excessive cost of airfreight and a strengthening Rand (South African currency), the cables were no longer a viable proposition without serious investment in stock.
These cables, some weighing in excess of 36kg, were mostly custom-made for selected robotic welders used in assembly plants around the world. Cleeve Cables' main product line reverted to industrial finishing equipment and, having gained valuable experiance from dealing with companies such as those mentioned above, we have been able to secure authorised distibutorships for well known products, including:
